Primal Codex

Customer Comments:

"This was $ well spent. For running a primitive campaign, this would be a must-buy. Even if you aren't running a jungle or ice-age scenario, there are plenty of things here that still make it worth while"--Chad

"This is a really neat book. ... What I really liked though was the added skills and feats which were all aimed at a primitive campaign..... This book allows me to add all sorts of neat plant and herbal ideas to keep the flavour of outdoors.... This books game me all sorts of ideas as well as weapons, armour and some equipment that the parties can use. The spells are neat though I think that some are Druid and have changed them in my campaign... Overall I am glad for the purchase".--David

"After a good read of this product, I find that it a superb sourcebook for even non-primitive campaigns. I run primarily Forgotten Realms and this sourcebook is excellent. A good deal of the book is devoted to primitive types...but I was most interested in the excellent sections on Disease, Poisons and Executions.
The section on Disease is superb, with loads of real life diseases beautifully crafted into d20 system rules. The poison section covers all natural types of poison and a comprehensive list of ailments. Finally, a pretty gruesome section on executions makes for an interesting read (and scares the pants of PC's who may be a little dodgy).
All in all, the book is worth it for the sections on Poison and Disease alone. As far as I know, no other sourcebook has covered disease in this detail (and I have been DM'ing since 1978). Basically, buy this book ;"--Roy

"This is an excellent book for those who like Rangers, Druids and Barbarians. It provides a lot of "Wilderness Lore" in the form of diseases, poisonous plants, natural traps and missing animal stats. As someone who works in a greenhouse, I must say the plant information was well done. ... The feats are well made for the above classes and the spell section has a excellent assortment of spells, most in the 2nd to 4th level range, so they are useful to most campaigns...."--Mike

"If you own Call of Cthulhu, you need to buy the Book of Broken Dreams ... This d20 supplement provides not only a real-world explanation of and usable game mechanisms for topics like personality types, stress, and insanity, but also includes a number of psychologically inspired spells, three similarly inspired prestige classes..., as well as a template for Nightmare Creatures.."--John

"This is an excellent resource for a Ravenloft or Call of Cthulhu campaign. It introduces a Stress reaction table and a list of mental disabilities with in game descriptions. "--Mike

"A thoughtful insight into the place of psychology in the D&D world. Great resource"--Devon

"The feel of this book is quite dark, and will specially be suited for dark-themed worlds. A game of Call of Cthulhu could certainly benefit from it...As a conclusion, I will say that I really liked this book, and hope to use a lot of chapter 2 and 3, as well as some of the spells. For $5, this is really good value, considering the good quality of the non-mechanic aspects of the rules." --Christopher

"The book itself deals mostly with mental and stress disorders, as well as personalities and gives a nice explanaton of everything it covers. This is a great product not only for D&D, but for ANY setting....the quality of the content is top notch." --Gilberto

"Wow is this a great D20 product... What I really enjoyed was that the product didn't waste a lot of time trying to get us to play in a specific way. Just here is the stuff, stats, and history. Have a ball and we did! We are going to be starting a WWII campaign in a couple months and I can't wait."--Troy

"This product is loaded with great information, covering the guns, tanks, etc of WWII. Lots of new material that any GM would appreciate. Good writing and editing make it fun to read. I really like this one! Good job."--Ed

"Very good product for WWII gamers, plus serves also as an historical guide into the events of World War II. Good prestige classes, tons of new Feats and all the necessary equipment to play, including Tanks , Aircraft and Ships."--Fernando

"Some of this stuff is inspiring, some of it is downright scary. One thing is certain, though. With this much material added to the base game, you will find yourself wanting to get a lot more levels of those basic classes in."--Peter

"More fleshing out to try 'tweaking' your campaign to the flavor or style one wants. Even if one doesn't like all the talents, they still are great starts for more and more ideas....Very adaptive to any campaign"--Todd

"This is a nice, brief, focused PDF that provides some helpful ideas for outdoors traps. The traps described are pretty basic--but then, they're supposed to be constructible with materials that can be found in the wilderness. ... Most any DM could come up with similar traps independently, but for a few dollars the work is done for you, and I find that very convenient. Each trap is also illustrated with a sketch, which helps me visualize it."--Chris
